Opening Shop: Etsy Style

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! I show all my finds here on this little blog and what is a girl supposed to do with all this stuff? Open an Etsy store! Why? I need to pass on all this fun stuff to other people who the same weird infatuation like me. So an etsy store is in the works and coming soon. I am way excited and my husband is too. I promised him a ping pong table when we clear out the basement.

This month's project: Guest Bedroom

On Monday my brother-in-law Justin moved out our home to start school. He had been living with us since March. He was having a hard time finding a job where he's from and was able to find one up here where we live. It was sad to see him go, he is a really good kid and was easy to live with.

The guest room he was staying in was a hodge podge of college furniture. Back during that time I would pick up stuff for our apartment and spray paint it black. Well, I'm passed that stage and am ready for something bright and cheery. The plan is to do a stencil treatment on the wall and incorporate as many items from around my home, I don't want to spend more than $50.00 and that includes paint and a dresser.

Also, this room serves another purpose beside housing a weary traveler. This room needs to house antiques and collectibles I truly love and what a better way then this.

Finds from my mini road trip and a new camera charger

On Friday I received my new camera charger, the last one didn't make it back from Yellowstone. As promised, here are all my fun finds from my mini road trip with my sisters. I have been on the look out for a plain window like this one. I added the hardware and bought a finial. I thought that I would dress it up with some tissue paper scallops. I left it up there for a few days and needless to say,I wasn't that in love with it. It has had a makeover and I love it, I will show it to you another time.
These are the little things I got. A Silver pitcher for flowers, silver goblet, old door plate, chalk candle holders, and see the flowers now times that 60.
This mirror was only $17.00 already painted, I couldn't pass it up for my entry. The mirror that was there is going to go in my bathroom.



This is the wall above my baby's changing table. I found the yellow McCoy pot and saucer for a steal. My sister Maureen collects McCoy pot and saucers ( I hit the mother load of pot and saucers a week ago I will share soon). So I asked the worker of the antique store how much it was and it was a few dollars, I could tell my sister wanted it so I offered it to her twice and she said, "no" , hey I offered, but it has found great place in my daughter's nursery.

Coming Soon: Finds from a sister mini road trip

Recently my sisters and I went on a mini road trip. We went thrifting and antiquing into nothern Utah and Southern Idaho.

It reminded me of old times. When I was about 13 years old my older sister and I would go to yard sales, when we made it far enough north we would always say,"we made it this far lets go to Brigham City" when we got there, we would say the same thing about the next city and so on until one time we ended up in Pocatello via back roads nearly four hours from home.

Although this time we didn't make it that far (if we had my oldest sister would have gone mutinous) we still had a great time!

We went to great thrift stores and antique stores and I am way excited to share all the fun finds with you . Look for them this week!

$4.00 chairs and free paint

*Lets get some things straight: I do not take good photos I am hoping as time goes by my photos will be so great that you'll want to frame them and call them art, but til then we will all have to settle.

About a month ago I purchased these cobolt blue and hunter green chairs from a goodwill store. The chairs had great lines to them and at $4.00 a chair I could spare some money. Also that trip I purchased some vintage soda bottles (I'll show you those another time).

When I bought the chairs I decided to paint them white. I used high gloss white paint which I regret now, but the paint was given to me so why not. I wish I used a creamy white flat paint.

1) I lightly sanded the chairs

2) applied paint

3) dried

4) one is on the porch and the other one is computer chair!

Pretty Sad! It was rotated just fine where I had saved it, but it uploaded this way. Learning curve I guess.
